Somnath, literally meaning ‘lord of the moon’ is a pilgrim center and is home to one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. The temple is dedicated to Siva, who was known as Shrilingeshwar in Dwapar yug, Shravanikeshwar in Treta Yug and as Bhairaveshwar in Sat Yug. It is an important religious and tourist site.
